A simple interactive counting game, designed in Powerpoint. Ideal for modelling counting and using tens frames during whole class teaching. Children count the number of snowflakes presented in the ten frames and identify the matching number on the number line. This activity can support the development of children’s early knowledge of number bonds and knowing which pairs of numbers make 10.

A simple IWB counting game to develop children’s fluency using number bonds to 10 by counting penguins. This is an ideal maths game to model using the ten-frame to explore number bonds to 10. Ask the children to count the number of penguins they see in the ten-frame and work out how many more penguins need to be added to make 10. Children could write the matching calculation on individual whiteboards OR show the match number with their fingers as part of whole class teaching and learning. This game may also work well as part of a guided group work session. Children may also enjoy interacting with this game during continuous provision. Children are invited to click on the matching number card that would make 10 penguins altogether. A simple FREE MATHS interactive whiteboard Subitising Game Winter Snowflakes to develop children’s early number skills. Children are presented with varying arrangments of snowflakes and say how many snowflakes they can see and show the amount using their fingers / click on the matching symbolic number card (i.e., either 4 or 5 snowflakes). This game works well as an ideal Maths starter session. Children learn to subitise (see an amount without counting items individually) within 5 - a key early learning goal for Reception. This subitising game can be played during whole class teaching and learning and or as part of small group adult-led session, encouraging children to see different ways of making four or five. This resource may also work well as a simple assessment tool to judge whether children can reliably subitise amounts within five. (This game is 32 slides in length and easily editable).
